FreeBSD contributor Michael W Lucas gives us a history lesson and overview of the past 20 years of FreeBSD Jails to its present. Jails is a lightweight virtualization system built into FreeBSD, and acts as a separate FreeBSD instance, allowing you to deploy applications without affecting the main host system.
